Gulf Island Overnight Sailing Trip 

Explore the Gulf Island's unique beauty while learning about sailing aboard Deserata, skippered by your host Darren Tomlin. 

After a restful sleep at Corbett House, cast off from nearby Sidney Marina to start your adventure. Enjoy an introduction to sailing! We'll cover safety, raising a sail, navigation, tides and waterways, and other basics of sailing. We'll introduce you to local sea charts so you can decide where you'd like to visit, or we can take you for a tour of interesting local spots.

Spotting marine and other wildlife is a great background to snacking on  gourmet West Coast specialties such as smoked salmon and Salt Spring Island goat cheese while on route to the beautiful Gulf Islands.

After learning about sailing and taking in the local sights and sounds, your choice of of Gulf Islands await you. We will book you in at one of the Island accommodations, or if you are feeling adventurous we can arrange for you to sleep overnight on the sailboat. 

The Next Day - Get ready for a day of exploring the Gulf Islands. The islands feature wine tours, organic farms and farmer's markets, many local artists, golf courses, hiking, and protected parks.

After you finish a pleasant day of exploring small towns like Fulford or Ganges on Salt Spring Island, or resting on resorts like Poet's Cove on Pender, you can choose to return by either ferry or on Deserata (add $150 per person for returning by sailboat).

The Salt Spring Package - The Salt Spring tour includes the intro to sailing, an exploration of local waterways, watching ocean wildlife, and if desired crabbing or fishing.

On Salt Spring, the Fulford bus will take you to Ganges, where you can visit the famous Salt Spring farmer's market, go shopping, and absorb the unique Island culture.

• Introduction to sailing, approx. 4 hrs (GPS/chart plotter, knot tying, raising a sail, rules of the waterways, chart reading, basic sailing instructions)
• Two night's accommodations (one night at the Corbett House Inn and one night at Salt Spring at a B&B or overnight on Deserata)
• Breakfast and West Coast specialties
• Fishing and crabbing if desired

The Pender Island Package  

The Pender Island Package begins with the introduction to sailing basics, and distinguishes itself with an overnight stay at the 5-star oceanside resort Poet's Cove. Hot tubs and swimming pools, 5-star dining and pub, tennis courts, and a great view of the local marina are all part of the Pender Island experience. 

When you are finished absorbing the ambience of Poet's Cove and Pender Island, a shuttle will take you to the ferry for the trip back.

• Two night's accommodation, one night at the Corbett House Inn, and one night at the 5-star Poet's Cove Resort

For both trips, while you are away luggage storage is available along with free parking at the Corbett House. Free airport shuttle service is also available.
